What the hell is MP3?
With the advent of multimedia on the PC, spurred by the introduction of Sound Blaster audio, it was not long before people realized they could play their music CDs on their PC with 'CD quality.' With the Internet and consumer validation of e-commerce, PC entertainment enthusiasts have been quick to catch on to the possibilities of having access to huge libraries of music to select and electronically download. Unfortunately, storing music on the PC while maintaining 'CD quality' fidelity has required the audio files to be prohibitively large for transferring and saving. MP3 is an audio compression format that enables audio files to be stored and transferred on a computer with a relatively small file size, while still maintaining near perfect fidelity when played back. As an example, a 3 minute song stored as a .wav file at 44KHzZZ takes up about 30MB. However, when compressed in MP3 format the audio file requires only about 3MB of storage, yet still sounds fantastic. As a gauge, t ypically 1 MB is equal to one minute of music. Files compressed in MP3 format can be identified by the .mp3 file type designation. MP3 (short for MPEG-1 Layer 3) is the audio subset of another industry standard referred to as MPEG. It was developed by a group of companies working together as a subgroup of the International Standards Organization (ISO). It became an official standard in 1992 as a part of the MPEG-1 standard. The company primarily associated with MP3 is Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (FhG) in Germany who owns key patents to the technology.
So, for people who like it short: MP3 is a very small file which contains a song. It is very small (about 3-4mb) while it sounds the same as a WAV file (a file as big as a file from an audio cd * about 30-40mb *). However and that is not in the text above, you can convert an MP3 file to a WAV file, using an "MP3 encoder"(which you can also find on this site), and then you can easily put it on a cd, using a "cd-writer", and play it on your stereo. You can also (this isn't in the text above either), put an audio cd in your computer and convert all the files which are on that audio cd to MP3, using an "CD-Ripper", so you can put about 150-200 mp3z on a CD, however you can't play a file in MP3 format in a normal stereo, you need a special MP3-player for that. But you can put all those files on your computer and play them from your computer, using a program called winamp (also downloadable from this site), this is an "MP3-Player". What you'll find on this site are only the best applications for playing MP3z and for doing lots of other things with MP3z (see text). But you'll also find lots of very nice MP3z on this site, you'll find all the hits you need over here....Ok, let's get started with the songs wich you can download, totally free. But, I've only putted these files on this site to show you the perfect sound which can come out of an MP3-file. However it is illegal to keep these files on your computer, you can only listen to them once and then you need to delete them. Well, let's just say I warned you....
